What is a DSL Network Diagram ?
When looking at a DSL network diagram you will see, they are usually set up as block diagrams and for many of us easy to follow. For some they are like trying to read a foreign language. If you are one of those who truly has no clue and do not want to take a chance of messing things up then find someone to hook it up for you. Most of the time you can set an appointment with your provider and they will have someone come out and set it all up for your and make sure you are connected before they leave. Some will even show you how to use your network to connect to the Internet and help you get familiar with the new service. They will also be right there to answer any questions that you may have while running through your instructions. Use that ...

Dantel's WebMon Edge Protects DSL Service at RBOC's Network Perimeter
Fresno, CA (PRWEB) August 15, 2006 -- Dantel Inc., a leader in the field of network surveillance and management, today announced the selection of its WebMon® Edge for nationwide deployment by yet another Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC). The Edge will monitor remote digital equipment cabinets that power Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment, thus protecting revenue generating DSL Voice and Internet services.
The Edge will be deployed as an integrated component of new power cabinet deployments and as a field retrofit kit for existing cabinets. The Edge provides critical remote event visibility to an otherwise unmonitored power cabinet and is seamlessly integrated into the RBOC’s existing Dantel alarm network. Providing this continuous visibility of events improves overall network performance and quality-of-service.
“We are excited about this new opportunity and happy to develop this solution with our RBOC partner. Over the past year, it has truly been a combined team effort,” says Frank Martinez, director of account marketing. “The key was to provide a cost effective solution that would easily integrate into our client’s existing network monitoring infrastructure.”
Taking advantage of the multiple interfaces available on the hardened Edge, Dantel was able to utilize the appropriate transport medium. In this application the dial-up function on the Edge was used to monitor and report power equipment malfunction, including AC failure, low temperature, high temperature, door, fuse, rectifier and battery alarms.
“We’ve shipped the initial equipment orders for 60+ cabinets, and expect full deployment of hundreds of cabinet locations over the course of the project,” said Martinez. “We look forward to expanding our Edge monitoring applications with this and other communications companies. The Edge provides the flexibility to satisfy a multitude of remote monitoring requirements.”
The WebMon Edge is designed to work in local or remote sites. In addition to 56K dial-up, the Edge supports 10/100 BaseT Ethernet interface, cellular CDMA/EDGE wireless technologies and dedicated serial communications. Along with the 8 alarm inputs and 2 control outputs, the Edge supports SNMP v1, v2c v3, as well as Email and Web Browser. New feature additions in the third and fourth quarters of 2006 will support eight analog inputs and a four-port Ethernet switch with optional 100BaseFX interface and TL1 protocol.
The NEBS® Certified WebMon Edge provides a cost effective solution as a stand-alone application, or as an integrated part of a network-wide surveillance and monitoring solution. The Edge has also been incorporated into Dantel's Disaster Resistant Event Network (DREN).
